Inspired by nature

This years kitchen colour trends take inspiration from the world around us, with earthy tones and nature inspired palettes in both paint colours and door finishes.

As well as appealing to the eye and reflecting our individual preferences there is a psychology of colours in kitchen design which evokes an emotional response and brings a distinct personality to how your kitchen feels. Reflecting the environment and essentially ‘bringing the outside in’ can help create a calming ambience associated with the natural world.

With this trend in mind, Atlantis has updated its palette with colours such as Botanical, Pure Fossil, Pebble, Limestone, Cityscape and Sand Oak.

Our recent design (above) for a property in Ambleside used Botanical painted island cabinets to create a spring colour scheme with the Limestone offering a softer contrast than a classic white.

With such fantastic scenery in the Lake District, it’s easy for our designers to be inspired from the windows of properties they visit. Our kitchen concepts often reflect these observations in the colours, textures and worktop patterns that we present. Here we've matched the waters of Lake Windermere with Spitfire Blue cabinets and positioned the island with breakfast bar to maximise the view.

Going Bold with colour

This has been an emerging for a few years, perfect for clients who are happy to make braver choices. This won’t be for everyone but in the right space, with warm lighting and contrasting worktops it certainly has the ‘wow’ factor.

Darker finishes on paint and worktops can offer a dramatic but warm effect. Black and dark grey with hints of gold and wood is a particular combination which we have started to incorporate into our showroom displays so customers can visualise the overall look.

Rustic Meets Sleek = Unique

Those looking for a combination of these two trends may look for a ‘Rustic Meets Sleek = Unique’ design that has the potential to incorporate a bolder natural colour scheme with a mix of textures in the choice of tiles, work surface and floor coverings to create a truly unique style.

A kitchen inspired by nature by design will also consider the sustainability and environmental aspects of its appliances. Smarter kitchen technology, lighting, Quooker taps and extraction can all offer long term savings and we see these becoming essential considerations.

At Atlantis, we pride ourselves on keeping up with the latest trends and twists to traditional designs with over 50 styles to view in our Kendal Showroom.
